I have to admit that I tend to be impulsive. When I see a new craft online that seems to be doable, I read about it online, shop for materials, put it in my cart…and just leave it there.
Things have changed when I saw ribbon embroidery on Instagram.
I did my usual routine whenever I am impulsive: read about it, window shop at Shopee, then put to cart…but the difference is that I actually purchased. I got a set of satin ribbons, 3 embroidery hoops of different sizes, and embroidery needles (hoops and needles not in picture).
I have no one to personally teach me and I feel like I could not learn properly with online workshops so I relied on Youtube as an attempt to self-study . At first, I thought that this would be easier because it will take less effort compared to ordinary embroidery…but of course, easier said than done.
Since this will be my first attempt, I used the smallest hoop. I also looked for a fabric that I could use for my practice. I decided to use a blue tulle fabric because the ribbons can easily get through and since it would be just for practice.
I went for a brown palette bouquet so it would match my current pocket TN planner which…looked awkward with blue.
Here is my finished product! I looks kind of confusing when you look at it up close. Okay, it does look confusing.
And here is what it looks like in my planner front page! It’s soooo pretty to look at but I know that with practice, I can make prettier designs.
I had fun doing ribbon embroidery but I still plan to join workshops so i could properly learn. Did you learn anything new this quarantine? Let me know in the comments!
